"A shop that talks you out of a $4k job has a customer for life."

What we do

One shop for everything your car needs

From a quick oil change to a full diagnosis, we handle it all under one roof. Every service below carries the same quality promise.

The honest call

How an honest shop actually works.

Nobody walks into a repair shop relaxed. So here is the whole playbook, written down, the way it should work anywhere.

Diagnosis

The code is where it hurts, not why.

Truth
A check-engine code starts the diagnosis, it doesn’t finish it
Fair
Diagnostic time costs money, ask if it’s credited toward the repair

A shop that quotes a big repair from the code alone is guessing with your wallet. Testing is the work, that’s what the fee buys.

Approval first

Nothing extra without a call.

Standard
Findings, photos, prices, THEN your yes or no, item by item
Your right
A dollar threshold above which nothing happens without your voice

“While we were in there” belongs in a phone call before, not an invoice after. Set the threshold when you drop the keys.

Parts

OEM, aftermarket, and the truth.

Honest mix
Quality aftermarket is fine for much of the car, brands matter on brakes and steering
Your call
You’re allowed to choose, and to see the old part after

Good shops hand back the old part without being asked. It’s the quietest honesty signal in the trade.

Maintenance

The manual beats the sticker.

Truth
Your owner’s manual sets the real intervals, by miles AND months
Watch
Windshield-sticker intervals are often sales schedules, not engineering

Skipping the manual’s big services is expensive. So is doubling them. The book in your glovebox is the referee.

One honest line to keep: a good shop tells you what can WAIT. If everything is always urgent, something else is going on.

Straight pricing

One number. In writing. It doesn’t move.

No hourly meter, no surprise line items, no “while we’re at it”. You approve one clear quote before a single part is ordered, so you know the cost up front.

01
The check-in

We visit, measure every car and listen to what you actually want. Free, and it stays free.

02
Your clear quote

Parts, labor and taxes, one line, one price. Approved by you before anything starts.

In writing03
Signed & guaranteed

The number lands in writing with a two-year workmanship warranty. If it isn’t right, we make it right.

The breakdown

What moves the number.

No mystery math. Four things decide what a repair costs, and we walk every one with you before the quote lands.

Condition & wearWhat the car actually needs, found by inspection, not guesswork. An honest diagnosis is most of a fair price.
Parts & gradeOEM or OEM-grade premium parts. What a part costs, and whether one repair prevents the next, moves the number.
Labor & accessSome parts sit in plain sight, others take hours to reach. How much has to come apart is real work, priced plainly.
TimingFlexible scheduling costs less. A hard deadline can be met, and it is quoted plainly up front.

Whatever the mix, you get one clear quote, in writing, before any work starts.

What a serious repair estimate includes, ours or anyone’s:
  • The finding, in plain words, with the symptom it explains
  • Parts listed with brand, OEM or aftermarket
  • Labor separate from parts, both visible
  • Diagnostic fee: amount, and credited or not
  • Your approval threshold, agreed at drop-off
  • Warranty on parts AND labor, in writing
An estimate that mixes parts and labor into one number can’t be compared with anything. Two lines instead of one is where honesty starts.

Recent jobs

Real work, in plain numbers.

Three jobs from the past few months, what they were, where, and how long they actually took.

Front brakes & rotors
Sellwood·3 hours

Worn front pads and warped rotors swapped for ceramic pads and new rotors, then bedded in on a road test. Calipers cleaned and slides greased so they wear even next time.

Timing belt & water pump
Laurelhurst·2 days

Interference-engine timing belt replaced on schedule with the water pump, tensioner and idlers done in the same job since the covers were already off. Cam timing checked twice against the marks before it went back together.

No-start diagnosis
Montavilla·4 hours

Car another shop called a bad transmission was really a failed crank sensor and a corroded ground. Traced it on the scope, cleaned the ground and swapped the sensor, and it fired right up.

Where we work

Proudly serving the Portland metro

A lot of our work comes from a neighbor who watched us fix the car next door. If you're in the metro, we're just around the corner.

Wet winters here are hard on brakes, wipers and batteries, and the stop-and-go bridge traffic finishes the job — that local pattern is behind half the cars on our lifts.

How it goes

From first call to done.

No mystery in the middle. This is the path the job actually takes, start to finish.

01
You book, we call backwithin 24 hours

You book online or call and reach a real person, not a queue. We ask what the car is doing, the year, make and mileage, and set a drop-off time that works around your week.

02
The intake walkthroughday you drop off

A technician walks the car with you at the counter, notes your concerns, and puts it on the lift for a photographed inspection. Nothing gets touched before we talk.

03
Quote lands in writingsame day, before any work

You get a clear quote by text or email with photos of what we found, parts listed line by line, and a clear split of what's needed now versus what can wait. No work starts until you approve it.

04
The job gets done right1-3 days depending on parts

We do the approved work with OE or better parts and re-check torque specs and fluid levels. If we open something up and find more, we stop and call you before spending another dollar.

05
Handover and warrantybefore you drive off

We walk you through what was done with the old parts and photos in hand, hand you the itemized invoice and written warranty on parts and labor, reset your service reminders, and return the car cleaner than it came in.

Before you hand over the keys

Five questions for every repair shop.

Including us. No purchase runs on trust like car repair, you can’t see the work, and you drive home on it. Five questions level the field.

01What’s the diagnostic fee, and is it credited?

Both parts of the question. A fair fee credited toward the repair is standard practice, hearing it up front is the professional part.

02Will you call before doing anything extra?

Set a dollar threshold at drop-off. Above it, nothing happens without your voice. Write it on the ticket.

03Can I see the old parts?

The right answer is “of course”, often they’re already in the box waiting. Hesitation here is data.

04OEM or aftermarket, and do I choose?

Both are legitimate, at different prices. What matters is that it’s named on the estimate and the choice is yours.

05What can safely wait?

The most revealing question in the trade. An honest shop sorts urgent from soon from someday, and says so unprompted.

Bring this list to the counter. We’ll answer all five before you ask.

Good to know

Questions, answered

Getting started
Do you charge for estimates?+
No. Written estimates for repairs, maintenance, inspections and fleet plans are always free, we visit, inspect the car and explain what it needs, and email you a clear, itemized quote with no obligation.
How soon can you start?+
Most estimates go out within a day, and typical projects are scheduled within one to two weeks. For urgent re-services, before a move, a sale or an event, just tell us the date and we'll do our best to fit you in.
What does “free estimates” mean?+
Before any work begins, we give you one clear quote to approve, prep, materials and labor included. No hourly meter, no surprise add-ons at the end. You always decide before we start.
What should I do before my appointment?+
Very little. Note what the car is doing and when, cold mornings, over bumps, only at speed, and clear the glovebox of anything you need. We handle the rest and text you a photo report before any work.
Do I wait, or drop the car off?+
Both work. The lounge has desks, wifi and decent coffee for waiters, drop-offs get a text the moment the car is ready, and we can coordinate a loaner for bigger jobs.
Parts, diagnostics & your report
What parts do you use?+
OEM or OEM-grade premium parts, the same quality the dealer installs, without the dealer markup. If you prefer a specific brand, tell us and we quote it.
How do you decide what my car needs?+
Measurements and evidence, not a sales quota. Every recommendation comes with a photo, the spec it failed against and a plain-English note, you approve line by line.
Can you work from another shop's quote?+
Yes, bring it. We inspect the car ourselves, confirm what actually needs doing and quote it flat. About a third of second opinions end with 'you do not need half of this'.
Is the waiting area kid-friendly?+
Yes, and the whole shop is family-run. Clean lounge, restrooms, and we are five minutes from Powell Park if the wait runs long.
What actually happens during the 40-point check?+
Fluids, brakes, tires, belts, hoses, battery, lights, suspension, every point photographed and graded green, yellow or red in your report. It rides along free with every oil service.
Why do some repairs fail twice?+
Parts-cannon guessing. A code points at a circuit, not a part, swapping the obvious sensor without testing is how the same light comes back. We test first, replace once.
Can you service cars under factory warranty?+
Yes. Independent shops legally keep your warranty intact as long as the schedule is followed with proper parts, we log everything so the paper trail is airtight.
Timing, weather & the Care Plan
How long will my repair take?+
Most maintenance is same-day, brakes and diagnostics usually within the day, big jobs get a written timeline before you approve. The board in the lounge shows live bay status.
Which service does my car need right now?+
Tap through the bays above, or just tell us the symptom. The free 40-point check with any visit is the honest way to find out what is real and what can wait.
Can you work in cold or rainy weather?+
Yes. Every repair happens inside a heated, covered bay, so rain, heat or cold never delays your car or affects the work. The only thing we wait on is a dry road for the final test drive.
How long until my car is back to normal?+
Most maintenance and repairs are same-day, so you drive home on finished work with nothing to wait out. On brake or clutch jobs we will mention the short bed-in period, and every car is road-tested before you get the keys.
Is the Care Plan worth it?+
For most homes, yes: an annual inspection, free scuff and touch-up visits, priority scheduling, and 15% off future projects typically pay for the membership the first time you use it, and keep every finish looking new.
